End of the line for Wyclef

Jean - no longer gone in November

Following on from widely circulated reports over the last few weeks, Wyclef Jean singer turned would-be Presidential candidate has finally decided to abandon attempts to overturn the decision of the electoral council.

The electoral council ruled that Jean does not meet the candidacy criteria, and cannot have his name included on the ballot paper this November.

The official reason, although unconfirmed, is believed to be that Jean was illegible to run because he did not meet the residency requirements. While he has remained an official ambassador for Haiti he has not lived in the country since he was a child.

Since the council’s decision Jean and his legal team stated that they would appeal and exhaust every avenue available in order to get his name on the list.

But the decision of the Haitian electoral council is final. Jean cannot appeal.

The singer has now focused his efforts on promoting his new music album.
