Anyone who ever met Spartacus would not easily forget him. It would be difficult to find a man more passionate about his community and fighting for racial justice. Spartacus stood tall, fearless, and challenged anyone who he thought impeded the advancement of the community.
My relationship with Spartacus wasn’t always easy. At times we would have blazing rows disagreeing about the way forward. But in the last few years we both mellowed and begun to appreciate each others strengths. He was particularly pleased that I would go up to his flat, where he ran his radio station, and share thoughts on his programme about Black political empowerment. We might not have agreed on everything, but we had become friends.
Last Friday, the community warrior Spartacus, lost his battle with cancer.
In remembering the spirit and life of our Spartacus, we are empowered to continue the struggle.
OBV pay tribute to Spartacus R. May he rest in peace.
