What more does the international community need to hear?
Six months after the earthquake that devastated Haiti reports say that little or nothing on the ground has improved and the billions that have been pledged in relief are nowhere to be seen.
Now singer and rapper Wyclef Jean is once again using his vocal talents-but to galvanise action:
“We need to make them (governments) keep their promises and shame them if they don’t.”
According to Jean, speaking in yesterday’s Independent, Haiti’s most famous son observed that charities which have already raised hundreds of milions of pounds in donations have only;
“Spent like five percent. Their excuse is: We haven’t decided what we’re going to do with it. Well I (he) want to know why not.”
