Vile Facebook Campaign ‘Prays’ for Obama’s Death

Author: Pete Souza, The Obama-Biden Transition Project

Obama: threatened

A Facebook campaign calling for Christian’s to ‘pray’ for the death of President Obama has been set up by an American red neck and far right Pastor Wiley Drake.

Established over 11 months ago the group now has over 1 million members. The Pastor wrote on his page:

“Dear Lord, this year you took my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze. You took my favorite actress, Farah Fawcett. You took my favorite singer, Michael Jackson. I just wanted to let you know, my favorite president is Barack Obama. Amen.”

Such vitriolic hate from a Christian pastor is not unusual in the United States. However, the fact that such an overwhelming number of people have supported the campaign is a real cause for concern. Racism has so far infected the Health Care reform debate, and along with such Facebook campaigns could create a climate where violent deranged racists could seek to harm the President.

Furthermore, the Republican Party is suspected of promoting racism by refusing to condemn or discipline extremist bigots who are members.

The Republican Party has so far failed to restrain or deal with racism in its own ranks, and in doing so has given a ‘green light’ to obnoxious and toxic racism.

Along with the growing racism of the Tea Party movement there are growing concerns that there is a concerted nationwide campaign, fueled by racist bigotry, seeking to create a climate of hate toward the US African American President.

In the land of the free and the home of the brave old style racism seems to be making a comeback.

  1. It’s always strange to me when ethnic minorities join the conservative political parties.

I get that fiscal conservative is separate from social conservative

But social conservative is pretty much the code phrase to identify who is racist, anti-sex, anti-women, anti-gay, and anti-science.

Not that any of these things are exclusive in any way to white people – but those are the people who tend to be in the power positions in the conservative parties.
