Rugby Star Cipriani Fights Racism

Danny Cipriani: Anti Racist

England rugby star Danny Cipriani has spoken about his life long commitment to fighting racism.

Danny spoke about these issues on the day after announcing he is leaving the UK to move to Australia whose father is Trinidadian said: “There have been situations where people make a racist comment or joke and I’ve stood up to them.”

Danny told the Telegraph that many people see him as white because his father is very light skinned however he went on to say that he is very proud of his Caribbean roots.

“I’m extremely proud of being mixed race. It’s part of my roots, my heritage”

“All my family’s black on my dad’s side. They’re all from Trinidad and Tobago. It’s extremely important to me.”

Danny who also plays for London Wasps has recently secured a move to the new Australian Super franchise the Melbourne Rebels at the end of this season that will probably rule him out being selected for England in the short term.

It’s good to see major sports stars such as Danny speaking out about racism and we applaud his willingness to stand up to prejudice and bigotry.

We need more like him.

  1. Well done Danny. The next step in order to achieve this wish is to remove New Labour from office for promoting this problem. Britain has gone backward in racial matters because of New Labour’s racist and unrealistic policies, and that party’s refusal to involve BME MPs more positively in decision making regarding issues concern racism which is still holding British born BMEs back.

  2. Who knew Danny Cipriani was mixed race?!
But then again who cares? This is obviously a media stunt that coincides with his move to Australia.
