Limited places available for Sharpton rally

Limited places are still available to catch civil rights leader Rev Al Sharpton in London next week, as he marks the birthday of Dr Martin Luther King with a landmark speech.

Firebrand former presidential candidate Rev Sharpton will fly into the UK next Tuesday, before delivering his ‘Realising the Dream’ address before an audience of 2,000 on Thursday evening.

The event is free – see below for full details.

As well as reflecting on Dr King, Rev Sharpton is expected to rally Britain’s Black communities ahead of the coming general election, urging people to realise the power of their vote.

Other speakers include Diane Abbott MP, playwright Kwame Kwei Armah, OBV’s Simon Woolley, Lee Jasper and Karen Chouhan.

As well as his set-piece speech next week, Rev Sharpton is expected to visit schools, community projects and meet MPs in the House of Commons.

The visit is part of Operation Black Vote’s National Voter Registration Campaign, which takes its’ inspiration from Dr King, who emphasised the importance of voter registration and civic engagement.

OBV report that they have been inundated with ticket requests, and urged people to register as soon as possible.
