OBV to address United Nations

UN-flagOperation Black Vote has been invited to give evidence to the United Nations about the inclusiveness of British democracy

Next week OBV will outline the obstacles to political participation from ‘minority’ communities at an international conference in Geneva organised by the United Nations.

400 delegates from around the world will attend a meeting of the United Nations Forum on Minority Issues, with headline speakers such as head of the National Black Caucus in America, Congresswoman Barbara Lee.

OBV head Simon Woolley stated: ‘It is great honour for OBV to help shape the solutions that would deliver greater political participation from minority communities across the world.

‘We at OBV are humbled that our work here in the UK is being seen by many at the forefront of politically empowering communities that have been marginalised by the present status quo.’

The three day conference will explore lack of representation, lack of participation and political policies that reflect multicultural societies.
